Photo Shoot Layout

We realize that we will not have our 12 sample Poppets for the photo shoot in time for our original date, so we change it again . I lost count of how many times we have to re-schedule, but as with any kind of construction it takes twice as long and costs twice as much as you may originally thought! It has taken a lot of time , intense hard work and money to get to where we are and I can’t wait to get product so that we can do the shoot with Bethany. We make a final date of April 25th for the shoot and let everyone know. We decided to use Ashlynn for the video and are attempting to do both the photo shoot and the video simultaneously! Quite a task and a lot of organizing ! Karen and I put our heads together and came up with the type of looks that we wanted both models to have and tried to figure out the best way to show the utility of The Pocket Poppet. This is a photo of our original layout id. Photo: Dana...

Did Someone Say Serendipity ?

Randomly in the middle of this whole thing , I got an email in my Poppet email account from freelance journalist Lisa Schmelz ,who was looking to do a story on the recording studio that I used to manage in Lake Geneva, WI . The magazine is called ‘ At The Lake’ which is based in Williams Bay, WI. I had actually contacted the magazine myself earlier in the year, to see if they would be interested in doing a story on Karen & myself and our new business. As it happens I got in touch with them in response to the recording studio article and they interviewed me for that and then Barb Krause said she also wanted to do an article on the Pocket Poppet! Did someone say ‘ Serendipity!’ It just so happens that both articles will be in the same issue of the magazine which comes out May 28th – this is all very strange to me! Twenty seven years later my first job in the US and our new business somehow end up in the same magazine at the same time…crazy...

Hang Tag

We have been waiting for the hang tag label which goes on the outside of the garment so that it identifies the product and also gives instructions on how to fold the Poppet as well as a place for retailers to put a price tag. This is proving to be just about the most frustrating part of this project !! We had seen a hang tag that we loved at a fabric and trim show back in October and thought that this would be a relatively easy part of the process. The first company that we worked with just couldn’t seem to get it right ! It is so strange because they are the ones that had the sample in the first place. We tried several attempts and waited for many weeks, but in the end decided to go with another company. They are Labels Interglobal in New York. Abi Campbell from V.Mora had sourced them and they also made our woven labels, care labels and clench tag. It only made sense for them to do the hang tag...

Back to life, back to reality…

‘Back to life , back to reality .’ We put down another deposit for the new website. Our original idea had gone by the wayside and we looked at some other websites out there and started to put together the pieces for the new look that we have chosen. This part is such a long and dragged out process, simply because of the amount and organization and content needed. We are still...

Goodbye Timmy ..

Today is a very sad day for me . I have to make the very difficult decision to have my handsome little poppet ‘Timmy’ put to sleep after 14 years . He is not very well at all and I believe that I am now just keeping him going for selfish reasons. He deserves and honorable mention as a loyal and constant companion. RIP Timmy  You were purrrrfect and loved. I miss you ...
