Our Own Office

I start posting photos on Facebook and other social media. It feels good to actually have some great images to share. Many people had been asking us what it looked like and when could they see photos. It’s great that people are interested and getting excited. I got an email from Bethany today. We had been talking about office spaces and she had been looking for a place that she could meet potential customers that needed photography. After talking about not being able to find anything reasonable in our neighborhood , which is Wicker Park, Bethany sent me an email the very next day with a link to a Craigs List post. It was for space that had become available in the Betancourt Realty office right on Division. I checked it out and took an office space the same week ! It’s a great affordable shared space for Karen and I to meet and to be able to hold meetings at – it’s perfect - thanks again Bethany...

The Photo Shoot Day

We had an early start. I wanted us to be at the studio by 8am as everyone else would be getting there starting at 9. We went to a great little coffee house close by and ordered a thermos of coffee and some treats. I had pre-ordered lunch to be delivered from Big Delicious Planet- great food and service ! We got to Studio 2255 and began the set up. Jeff Stella was a great help and the studio is just perfect. The crew started to arrive: Bethany Fritz from Maypole Studios Photography, Jordan Bradford Videographer extraordinaire , Carley Martin and Assistant from Factor Artists and models Ashlynn McBride and Connie De Bie from Grossman & Jack Talent. What a great day and a great shoot/video ! It was hectic and non-stop and I am a bit manic in those situations , basically I wind myself up and just go ! Here are some behind the scenes shots taken by Dana Loftus ( thank you Dana ! ) that are fun to share:   Connie getting beautified (not that she needs it !! )  ...

My Kinda town

Karen and I set to organize for the shoot tomorrow. Karen came down to Chicago and we stayed in a hotel on S. Michigan Ave. It was great that we took some of the stress away and could sort out our thoughts and the outfits for the next...

Serendipity Again ???!!!

I went to the Starbucks on Paulina to work. I work from home but there is not much room to spread out and I need a change of scenery. We don’t have an office at this point , but the thought is there ! I had looked at a shared office space a couple of days ago that a friend had recommended and although the price, situation and networking possibilities were great, the location was not ideal. I sat down at the one communal table which seats 6. There was one person at the end of the table working on her laptop and because I needed to plug in my computer , I sat directly opposite her. I’m sure she was thinking ‘ why is this person sitting opposite me, when there are 4 perfectly good places open! ‘. In a split second I noticed her rapidly typing finger nails ! They looked so nice and mine were looking terrible and I hadn’t found a good place in Chicago yet that worked for me. She looked up as I sat down and here we go again – it was Rachael Shannon Smith from the Double Door photo shoot ! We laughed and commented on her nails – she told me to go to Jackie at Fantasy Nails on North Ave as they do a great job – perfect ! Then I mentioned that I needed a graphic for a banner for the photo shoot which was happening in three days. Well guess what ! Rachael turned around a great image in a few hours the next morning and I...
